Many fans are looking forward to the new form of action and adventure that will be introduced in "Battlefield 1." The long-time players of the huge "Battlefield" game franchise may be used to the highly-advanced technology, sci-fi and futuristic theme of the previous installments, but this time around, the upcoming "Battlefield" game title will bring the players back to the World War 1 era.

Having an early 1900's setting for the new "Battlefield" installment may be a huge step for EA DICE, but the game design director Lars Gustavsson explained at the Gamescom 2016 that this kind of old setting for the game is something they have all thought about for a long time.

"It's an era we've been wanting to explore for a while. We've all learned about World War II, Vietnam, and the Cold War. But World War I often goes unnoticed, despite how huge it was," said Gustavsson in an interview with Game Spot. He also added that while the new "Battlefield 1" setting appears very old, it is still considered a new stuff for the game that will capture the interest of people. The upcoming sequel will tell the specific details about a very important event in the world's history, and the players can learn more about the WW1's rich history and background.

Gustavsson's team has researched extensively about the setting of "Battlefield 1" to precisely show to the players the exact atmopshere during the Great War. Everything in the game's design was developed in a way to give an accurate depiction of the war, in terms of weapons, armory, strategies, war costumes and technology. This is evident in the arsenal and mode of transportation shown in the previous "Battlefield 1" trailers, like bayonets, water-cooled machine guns, mustard gas, and soldiers using horses to travel.

EA DICE have already taken a trip down the memory lane with "Battlefield 1942" as the game explored the World War 2 era, but the majority of the entries like the second, third, and fourth "Battlefield" are more centered in modern-day warfare. "Battlefield 1" will be the farthest trip back in history that the franchise has ever been.

On the other hand, Game N Guide reported that the "Battlefield 1" open beta is scheduled on the 31st of August for Battlefield Insider members. Those players who have already signed up prior to Aug. 21st cut-off will have the chance to experience the game first before others as the full version of "Battlefield 1" will be released in October.
