'Blindspot' Season 2 news, spoilers: EP teases cryptic clues about new season, describes sophomore run as 'reset'
"Blindspot," which received a positive response during its first season, will get a "reset" during its return by adding new characters.
During the Television Critics Association press tour, creator Martin Gero revealed that "Blindspot" season 2 will be a great jumping-on point for new viewers as they designed it that way.
One of the new additions is "The Good Wife" alum Archie Panjabi, who Gero said they worked hard to recruit for "Blindspot" season 2 to "bring new viewers in." She will play the head of a secret division of the National Security Agency (NSA).
"We're viewing season 2 as even more important than season 1," Gero said via Variety. He plans to do so by starting off "Blindspot" season 2 with a catch-up of the mythology explored in the first season then returning to the tattoo case of the week format.
"If you start watching [with Season 2], it'll be just as fun for you. We want to reward our loyal viewers and not alienate our casual ones," Gero continued.
Meanwhile, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Gero teased Jane's (Jaimie Alexander) ties with the mysterious organization she dangerously finds herself involved in.
"Jane's own allegiances are in play basiCally for the first part of the season," Gero said. "If the first seAson was about Jane Doe being a Trojan Horse inside the FBI, the second season is about her being a double ageNt Inside of her own organization," he added.
Notice the uppercase letters that EW purposely used in the statement. They seem to spell something out (C-A-N-I or C-A-T-H-N-I if Trojan Horse is included).
It is difficult to pinpoint what Gero is trying to pinpoint, but it looks like a clue to juicier information about Jane's situation in "Blindspot" season 2.
More importantly, in the new season, fans will finally learn Jane's real name. "The Blacklist" season 2 will premiere on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 10 p.m. EDT on NBC.
