Bobbi Kristina Health Condition News Update: Doctors Say She Has 'Irreversible Brain Damage'

Cissy Houston, the 81-year-old grandmother of Bobbi Kristina Brown, revealed in a recent statement that during her last visit to the hospital where her granddaughter initially stayed, doctors told her that Bobbi Kristina had "irreversible brain damage."

This appears to contradict the statement made by Bobby Brown, Bobbi Kristina's father, during his concert in April that Bobbi Kristina was "awake" and watching him.

Bobbi Kristina, the daughter of singers Brown and the late Whitney Houston, was discovered face down in a bathtub in her home in Georgia on Jan. 31, and has been unresponsive since then. The incident happened a few days before the third death anniversary of her mother, Whitney, who died in eerily the same circumstances on Feb. 11, 2012.

Medical experts said Bobbi Kristina could remain unresponsive indefinitely. She was recently moved from an Atlanta hospital to a long-term care facility.

The Medical Director and Neurosurgeon of Dignity Health Northbridge Hospital, Dr. Mark Liker, recently spoke to Extra, about his opinions on the conditions of the young woman.

"I don't know where she stands right now. If she is not able to respond, then the physical therapy is usually performed on a regular basis and it is limited to range of motion exercises, so they will move her arms and legs just so her legs and arms don' go into permanent contraction."

Dr. Liker advised the people taking care of Bobbi Kristina to "continually or frequently" administer impulses "from the legs to the brain" in order to "keep the brain as responsive as possible." This would help "give her better function over time," as well as a better chance at recovery.

Dr. Liker also shared his sympathy for Bobbi's loved ones and fans and supporters waiting for development.

"I tell families you just have to wait and you have to be very patient. This is not a day-to-day thing," he commented. "You will not see changes day-to-day, you may not even see change week-to-week, it may come more slowly, and I'm sure that the facility is doing the best they can in terms of rehabilitation and ways to help her."

In other news, after a stint in rehab, Bobbi Kristina's long-time boyfriend Nick Gordon is reportedly desperate to see his partner. He has been banned from visiting Bobbi Kristina since the incident as the police are still investigating the events leading up to it.

Gordon, who appeared on Dr. Phil in a televised intervention, which later led to his checking into rehab, is currently staying with his mother, Michelle Gordon, in Orlando, Florida.

"Rehab was a success for Nick. He did very well and cleaned himself up. Now, he just really wants to see Bobbi Kristina," a source close to Gordon disclosed to People Magazine. "It's hard for him not to be able to see Krissy. He wants to see for himself how she is doing."

"He only has third-hand information and doesn't know any more than what the media has been reporting," the source said.
