Bruce Jenner Woman Claims in Magazine Rebuked By Kris Jenner
Bruce Jenner had been growing his hair over the past few months, leading In Touch Magazine to claim that the former Olympic athlete is "transitioning into a woman."
Jenner's former wife Kris was quick to leap to his defense, saying the magazine was "out of touch with reality."
In Touch has come out with a cover featuring Bruce Jenner's head photo-shopped onto the body of television actress Stephanie Beacham. In the doctored photo, Jenner wore lipstick and his face was plastered with makeup.
The magazine cover went viral on the Internet. While Beacham found the photo funny, many on the Internet did not and it resulted in a huge backlash against In Touch.
In the article supporting the cover picture, In Touch claimed that a source close to Jenner claimed that he is planning to declare himself a transgender later this year. According to the In Touch article, another magazine, The Advocate, had quoted the source as saying that Bruce was "finally becoming more comfortable with himself and his choice to be a woman."
The Advocate was quick to debunk the In Touch magazine article. The Advocate's Editor-in-Chief Matthew Breen said he was the only person who knew the content of his magazine's future covers and Jenner was not on them. He also said In Touch could not possibly know their future publication plans. He said the cover story about Jenner was simply a case of "bad reporting."
Breen also described the In Touch cover as "despicable" as the magazine used a fake photo to try and shame and bully Jenner.
On the day the cover story on Jenner appeared on In Touch, the former Olympic champion was seen arriving at E! TV studios to film the reality show "Keeping up with the Kardashians." TMZ reported that while Kris Jenner was outraged by the fake and outrageous cover photo and the accompanying article, her former husband was not bothered about it at all, saying he doesn't "pay attention to this kind of stuff."
