'Chicago Med' season 2 episode 12 spoilers: Gaffney's emergency personnel deal with their most dangerous case yet in 'Mirror Mirror'
One would think that after performing a successful surgery on a panda with a congenital hole in her heart, there is no challenge so daunting that the emergency personnel of Gaffney Chicago Medical Center cannot handle. However, the next episode of "Chicago Med" puts them quite literally in the line of fire.
When a 19-year-old tough-looking guy is wheeled in with severe distress, Dr. Choi (Brian Tee) and medical student Jeff Clark (Jeff Hephner) quickly went to work to determine its cause. When the resulting X-ray image shows a gun shoved right up the patient's rear end just past his sphincter, the situation just as quickly turns into a safety hazard for both personnel and the patient himself.
Resident psychiatrist Dr. Reese (Rachel DiPillo) lends a hand to help calm the patient down while the emergency team figures out the best way to deal with the bizarre, dangerous case. The previous episode saw the young resident psychiatrist breakdown after a long night spent in the graveyard shift, popping caffeine pills to keep herself awake. It looks like she has recovered from that little incident and may now be more receptive to the advice of Head Psychiatrist Dr. Charles and more resolved to carry on with her chosen residency.
The trailer for the next episode, titled "Mirror Mirror," shows the emergency team suiting up in bulletproof vests after weighing all their other options and securing the required warrant to get the weapon out of their patient's body. A brief peak at the procedure hints at the gun possibly going off and sending everyone in the operating room in a panic. How will Dr. Choi and his team resolve this case without risking anybody's life?
Elsewhere, Dr. Manning (Torrey DeVitto) and Dr. Charles (Oliver Platt) will find themselves perplexed by the rapidly changing symptoms of a teenage girl. A camera crew is tailing Dr. Stohl (Eddie Jemison), which gets in the way of Dr. Halstead's (Nick Gehlfuss) already difficult case, and Dr. Latham (Ato Essandoh) has a big admission to make to Dr. Rhodes (Colin Donnell). Does this involve, or is the direct result of his ongoing Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) therapy or of something else that is more in line with their jobs at Gaffney?
"Chicago Med" season 2 episode 12 airs on Thursday, Feb. 2, at 9 p.m. EST on NBC.
