Galaxy Note 4 S-LTE Release Date News: Launching This Week
The new version of the Galaxy Note 4 that has support for Cat. 9 LTE is reportedly due for release sometime this week.
Samsung announced the arrival of this version last month on its blog where it was touted as the first phone with the ability to provide download speeds of up to 450 Mbps.
When news of the Galaxy Note 4 S-LTE phablet first broke out, many users expected it to come with the brand-new Snapdragon 810, which would have made it the world's most powerful phone. However, the latest rumors coming out from Samsung indicate that the company has chosen to leave behind the Snapdragon 810 and instead go with the homegrown Exynos 5433.
GSMArena reported last December that the Snapdragon 810 chipset was undergoing test with a LTE Cat 9 capable modem. However, since then it seemed that Samsung chose to play it safe and go with own chipset as it was wary of the rumored problems around the Snapdragon 810.
With Samsung aggressively pushing the new version of the Note 4, several websites have pointed out that the company could be looking to beat the LG G Flex 2 in the market. The LG G Flex 2, announced earlier this month, is the first smartphone to feature the Snapdragon 810 chipset. It also an LTE Cat. 9 enabled device.
As of now, no plans for an international launch of the Galaxy Note 4 S-LTE have been announced. Currently it is speculated that only South Korea will receive the device initially.
One reason being provided for the limited rollout of the Galaxy Note 4 S-LTE is that SK Telecom already has a LTE-A network operational. As for the launch date in South Korea, Gizbot indicates that the Galaxy Note 4 S-LTE could arrive around Jan.30 and be priced along the lines of the LG G Flex 2.
