'Game of Thrones' season 7 news, spoilers: Lena Headey says Cersei's reign will be short-lived
At the end of "Game of Thrones" season 6, and after much scheming and great personal loss, Cersei (Lena Headey) finally found herself sitting on the Iron Throne.
But if the popular HBO fantasy drama has taught its viewers anything, it is that the Iron Throne is a pretty precarious seat to be in. From Robert (Mark Addy) to Joffrey (Jack Gleeson) to Tommen (Dean-Charles Chapman), every single person who has sat on the throne has met a gruesome death.
In fact, practically everyone who has dared to call himself King of Westeros over the course of "Game of Thrones" has not lived long enough to enjoy the title.
Will Cersei suffer a similar fate?
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Headey predicted that Cersei's reign will not last long.
"No," the actress said. "Surely not! It's a moment of punctuation in the madness."
According to the actress, who admitted that she was shocked when she read that Cersei would become Queen, "She may only be there for a second."
"Then we start again to play that game we all play each season, 'Who's going to be on the Iron Throne next?'" she added.
While it remains to be seen which of the remaining power players in "Game of Thrones" will be the one to dethrone Cersei, Headey believes that it should be either Arya (Maisie Williams) or Tyrion (Peter Dinklage).
"No one would relish her death as much as he would," the actress said about her character's much-maligned brother.
Meanwhile, "Game of Thrones" actor Kristian Nairn, who played the gentle giant Hodor, recently spoke about the possibility of his character, who died in season 6, returning to the series as a White Walker.
In an interview with the UK's Independent, he said, "As much as I would like to come back and play a White Walker, I think it would be wrong."
"There are too many emotions tied up, it would be a bit of a travesty to bring him back," he explained, adding, "A zombie Hodor is not a pretty thought."
"Game of Thrones" season 7 will debut on HBO in 2017.
