Giada De Laurentiis Divorce: Rumors of Affair With John Mayer

Food Network chef Giada De Laurentiis recently announced that she was divorcing her husband of 11 years, designer Todd Thompson.

In a statement posted on her website she said they had been "amicably separated" since July. This led several online sources to point out that the couple was having trouble since Laurentiis' rumored affair with 37-year-old singer-songwriter John Mayer in 2010.

Mayer's alleged relationship with the 44-year-old Laurentiis surfaced when they were spotted holding hands and getting cozy in the "Boom Boom Room" event in 2010. Following that report, Laurentiis denied it, saying that she was actually with her husband at that time and did not spend the night with Mayer. After the news of her impending divorce came out, the New York Daily News noted that her fling with Mayer had apparently cast a shadow over her marriage.

Following Laurentiis' announcement of their split, Thompson, 51, the very next day filed for divorce stating "irreconcilable differences" as the cause. In his filing, he requested that Laurentiis not be awarded any spousal support. He also said a division of their assets has not yet been finalized.

The couple has a six-year-old daughter named Jade.

The couple's impending divorce caught many people by surprise. In 2013, in an interview with Parade Magazine, Laurentiis said she was blessed with a "true partnership" with Thompson whom she had been with for 22 years. She also lauded him, calling him a "great husband who supports me by looking after Jade while having a full-time job of his own."

Laurentiis doesn't seem to be worried about her impending divorce. The day before she made the announcement, she spent the night partying with fellow food network chef Bobby Flay in a restaurant.

Reporting on their dinner, Fox News says the two stars came to the Cecconi restaurant at Soho Beach House in Miami after an event related to the Food Network. They celebrated with wine and dinner. According to Fox News, Laurentiis even tripped on her way out of the restaurant which caused Flay, who is married to actress Stephanie March, to laugh.
