'Grimm' season 6 episodes 3 spoilers: David Giuntoli to show off directorial chops in 'Oh Captain, My Captain'
Desperate times call for drastic measures. And if these drastic measures involve having two Renards (Sasha Roiz) in one episode, then Nick (David Giuntoli) and the rest of the Scooby gang are all over it.
The next episode of NBC's supernatural police procedural series features actor Giuntoli's directorial debut, but he's not the only one pulling double jobs in episode 3 of "Grimm's" sixth and final season. Roiz will temporarily be taking over as Nick in the episode aptly titled "Oh Captain, My Captain." Unsurprisingly, the Witch's Hat, which has already caused a lot of trouble in the past, once again comes into play to give the Scooby gang a bit of an advantage by turning their leader, Nick, into a physical copy of their adversary, Capt. Renard.
The gang works together to make sure everything goes as planned, with Adalind (Claire Coffee) willingly assisting in bringing her pretend fiancé down after the foxy royal bastard rendered their "Trust-Me-Knot" contract useless in the previous episode. As shown in the trailer for the next episode, Eve/Juliette (Bitsie Tulloch) and Rosalee (Bree Turner) will be working together to recreate the spell that has once transformed Adalind into Juliette and vice versa. They will both be around, along with Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell), to see Nick transform into Renard. But will this really be enough to defeat the captain and mayor of Portland?
In an exclusive interview with Yahoo TV, Giuntoli hinted at a possibly unfavorable end for Portland's unsung hero.
"Nick isn't promised a happy ending, and I am not sure he will get one, which I am fine with," Giuntoli said, who went on to describe his directorial debut as a "very humbling" experience, although he did also admit to having been a "nervous wreck" the night before the shoot.
And to answer the ultimate question of which romantic relationship will Nick be pursuing now that his ex-flame, Juliette, seems to be regaining her previous self, Giuntoli shared that since he now has a son with Adalind, Nick's motivation no longer has anything to do with romantic feelings as it now lies with the desire to protect his family.
"I think he wants to keep Kelly safe about all else. But he has love for all three of them now," Giuntoli said referring, to Nick's son and the two most important women in his life at this point.
The next episode of "Grimm: The Final Chapter" airs on Friday, Jan. 20, at 8 p.m. EST on NBC.
