'Hannibal' season 4 air date, spoilers, news and updates: Plans for a season renewal to begin by Aug. 2017
After its unexpected cancellation, fans of NBC's psycho-thriller "Hannibal" is still clamoring for a fourth season of the show, and it seems like it is looking good for everyone as plans of reviving the show is apparently underway.
During a press release for another show titled "Channel Zero," co-writer for "Hannibal" Nick Antosca was asked about the proposed season 4 for the psychological thriller show. "I can't speak in detail, but I have heard conversations about what a fourth season would be," he answered. "And I know that Bryan [executive producer] as a very clear and kind of brilliant idea of what he would do on another season."
Executive producer Bryan Fuller originally intended for "Hannibal" to last seven seasons, but due to low ratings after constant air date changes, the show was canceled after its third season. Fuller, however, confirmed that talks of a fourth season will commence on Aug. 2017.
By Aug. 2017, it is speculated that Fuller and the rest of the production team can talk about how they can continue the story after the hiatus, examine actors who can reprise their roles, talk about its possible storylines and more.
Stars of the TV series have expressed their desire to reprise their respective roles in the show. Mads Mikkelsen, Hugh Dancy and Gillian Anderson, who play Hannibal Lecter, Will Graham and Dr. Bedelia Du Maurier, respectively, are all interested in doing the show for a fourth season, despite the three of them working on different other projects.
Fuller, on the other hand, reportedly dropped off from the "Star Trek: Discovery" TV series, thus making him more available for "Hannibal" season 4.
"Hannibal" was received with critical acclaim when it debuted on TV in 2013. Its first two seasons won the Saturn Awards for Best Network Television Series. After its cancellation in 2015, Fuller asked Amazon Video and Netflix to pick up the show, but no deals were successfully made so far.
