HTC One M9 Hima Release Date, Specs Review: Follow Up To HTC One M8 Eagerly Awaited
While the HTC One (M8) was not a huge hit in terms of sales volume, the smartphone with its premium full metal body and gorgeous features was labeled as one of the "most beautiful" devices in 2014.
That's why when HTC sent out invitations to the media last week for an event to be held at the upcoming MWC 2015 on March 1, many people presumed that the company would use its flagship phone's newfound fame as springboard to launch the HTC One (M9), which is codenamed Hima.
The invitation to the event set off a storm of speculation that HTC will be launching a better and possibly bigger version of the HTC One M8. However, the press invitation did not specifically mention the launch of the HTC One M9. Instead, the company labeled the event as "Utopia in progress."
Soon after the invites were sent out, Bloomberg reported that unnamed sources had confirmed that the new phone would be launched in the event, and it would have a better camera and feature improved audio.
It was also reported that the smartphone would be launched together with HTC's first smartwatch.
According to the report, the M9 will have a 20 megapixel camera at its rear and an UltraPixel camera at its front. As for the other details of the phone, it has long being rumored that it will have a display measuring 5 inches and it will be a full HD version with a resolution of 1,080 x 1,920 pixels. As for its specs the latest Qualcomm's octa-core 64-bit Snapdragon 810 processor is going to run the show along with 3GB of RAM. Finally its operating system is the latest Android 5.0.1 Lollipop version.
As for the smartwatch, HTC earlier signed a partnership with Under Armour, Inc. and the device could link to its fitness service. Bloomberg reported that the smartwatch is an attempt by HTC to boost it sales as demand for smartphones appears to be cooling. HTC has also started branching out into cameras with the introduction of its "Re" range.
