HTC One M9 Plus vs Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Comparison: S6 Edge Offers Better Specs
Soon after the launch of its flagship device, HTC went a step further and released the One M9 Plus with a number of improvements. Here is how the One M9 Plus compares to the flagship curved screen device from Samsung, the Galaxy S6 Edge.
Design
The One M9 Plus comes with a full aluminum chassis, which is hand polished. It is available in three colors: silver/gold combination, amber gold, and gunmetal grey. Like its competitor, it also has a fingerprint sensor integrated into a button at the front of the device. As for the S6 Edge, it comes with an aluminum frame and has Gorilla Glass 4 on its back panel. Its stunning screen gives it a boost as it curves over the left and right side. The curved edge can be used to display notifications, a night clock and unique colors associated with five important contacts when they call.
Display
The displays on both devices are similar. Both have a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels. The S6 Edge has a super AMOLED screen measuring 5.1 inches with a density of 577 pixels per inch, while the One M9 Plus has a slightly bigger super LCD3 screen measuring 5.2 inches with a density of 534 pixels per inch.
Specs
Both devices have the very best in terms of specs. Strangely, however, the One M9 Plus opted not to use the Snapdragon 810 chipset and instead used a Mediatek MT6795T chipset, an octa-core CPU clocked at 2.2 GHz and a PowerVR G6200 GPU. As for the S6 Edge, it has Samsung's latest Exynos 7420 chipset, an octa-core CPU with four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz and four Cortex-A57 cores clocked at 2.1 GHz, along with a Mali-T760MP8 GPU.
Memory
The One M9 Plus has a big advantage when it comes to memory slots as it has a version that allows for the addition of up to 128 GB of external storage. The S6 Edge does not have a slot. As for RAM, both devices have 3 GB each.
Camera
The camera on the One M9 Plus is a 20-megapixel version, outshining the 16-megapixel camera on the S6 Edge. However, the S6 Edge has optical image stabilization which its competitor does not have.
Price
Much like the HTC One M9, the Plus version could also cost $199 with a two-year contract. The Galaxy S6 Edge costs $299 with a similar contract.
