Huawei Mate 9 release date news: New leak shows off dual camera, fingerprint scanner
Months prior to its supposed unveiling, the Huawei Mate 9 appears in a new set of leaks, which exposed some of the flagship's exciting features and specs.
The Huawei Mate 8 successor has been featured in various leaks, and this set of the device's renders that made in to the web supports the previous reports about a dual-camera setup, which is certainly an upgrade from the previous iteration.
As for the resolution of the cameras, reports claim the rear-facing shooter will have 20 megapixels although there is a benchmark that claims it will only be in 12 MP.
If it will be the latter, it will seem like a downgrade since last year's version had a 16 MP camera on the back. Of course, Huawei might upgrade another aspect of the camera instead, which Apple usually does on its iPhones.
Despite that, reports are of the same claim that the back camera is getting LED flash and laser autofocus. As for the front, it is believed that the Huawei Mate 9 is getting an 8 MP selfie snapper, which is the same resolution as its predecessor.
The leaks also revealed the inclusion of the fingerprint sensor on the back of the Huawei Mate 9, which its predecessor also had. Design-wise, it appears that it will don a metal build for a premium touch.
Previous rumors revealed that the Huawei Mate 9 will sport a 5.9-inch Full HD (High Definition) display and a HiSilicon Kirin 960 chipset will reportedly power it up. This will be paired with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage.
There's no word on the battery pack, but it appears that the handset will come with a Super Charge charging system to keep the lights on for long hours.
The Huawei Mate 9 is expected to be released in December, the same month its predecessor was released last year.
