'Injustice 2' roster news update: Another 'Mortal Kombat X' character to be added; Red Hood, Starfire coming next too?
"Injustice 2" is expected to feature another crossover by bringing in a "Mortal Kombat X" fighter to the roster much like what developer NetherRealms Studios did in the first iteration of the DC Comics-inspired fighting game.
Scorpion, which was a character from the "Mortal Kombat X," was added in "Injustice: Gods Among Us," and it resonated so well with gamers, as per creative director Ed Boon.
When asked if a crossover will happen in "Injustice 2" again, Boon told GameSpot "Scorpion was the most downloaded character in Injustice 1, so we'd be idiots not to."
With regards to which character from "Mortal Kombat" will find its way to the battle of superheroes, he did not go into detail about it and simply promised that "it likely won't be Scorpion again."
It is highly possible that a character as popular or as big in the "Mortal Kombat" world as Scorpio will be brought to "Injustice 2" next. Unfortunately, it is difficult to figure out for now.
Meanwhile, Boon has been doing some polls, asking fans which DC Comics character they would like to see in the "Injustice" sequel.
He recently asked gamers who they would like to see on the roster next. The choices were Constantine, Black Manta and Starfire, who garnered the highest votes.
Starfire is also known as Tamaran's Princess Koriand'r. She has the ability to spew destructive blasts known as starbolts, energy absorption and flight.
"So you guys really wanna see Starfire in Injustice 2. Duly noted," Boon tweeted out after seeing the poll results, which saw Constantine in second place and Black Manta in last place.
He also asked which version of Red Hood should be in "Injustice 2" and fans showed some big love for Jason Todd. The other choice was the Joker Red Hood.
At the recent Gamescom 2016 event in Cologne, Germany, Suicide Squad members Harley Quinn and Deadshot were confirmed to join the roster.
"Injustice 2" will be released next year to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and mobile.
