The Galaxy Note Edge, with its stunning curved screen, served as a precursor to the latest Samsung phone, the S6 Edge. The Galaxy Note Edge is still preferred by people who like the additional features provided by the curved edge. Here is how it compares with the LG G4 phablet, which also has a curved body.

Design

The LG G4 has a subtle curve running from top to bottom called the "SlimArc." This feature allows the phablet to be easily held and at the same time protects the screen when the device is accidentally dropped. As for its body, the LG G4 is chiefly made from plastic. Its back panel features patterned polycarbonate in black or white with a ceramic coating. Users can also buy optional leather covers dyed in natural colors. These covers can easily replace the default or the previous cover.

As for the Note Edge, it has a straight screen and an additional curved portion flowing over its right edge. The curved screen functions independently and displays shortcuts to apps, a night clock and notifications from apps. The phone's body is made from plastic but has a metal band along its edge and faux leather on its back panel.

Display

The LG G4 and the Note Edge both have excellent displays. The LG G4 features an IPS LCD screen measuring 5.5 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 538 pixels per inch. The Note Edge has a similar resolution, but its Super AMOLED screen is slightly bigger and measures 5.6 inches with a density of 524 pixels per inch.

Specs

The Note Edge has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset, a quad core Krait 450 CPU clocked at 2.7 GHz and an Adreno 420 GPU. As for the LG G4, it has slightly better specs in the form of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset, a hexa-core CPU with two Cortex-A57 cores and four Cortex-A53 cores and an Adreno 418 GPU.

Memory

Both phablets are similar in terms of memory slots which can be used to add up to 128 GB of external storage. Coming to RAM, both are again similar and have 3 GB each.

Camera

Here again the phablets are alike in that they both have 16 megapixel cameras at their rear with optical image stabilization.

Price

The Galaxy Note Edge costs $399 with a two-year contract while the LG G4 could cost around $199 with a similar contract.
