LG G4 vs Motorola Nexus 6 Comparison: Whale-Sized Nexus 6 Falls Short Specs-Wise
Comparing the Nexus 6 from Motorola with the G4 from LG, it is evident that both companies wanted to create premium phablets at minimal cost. Hoping to attract more customers, Motorola chose to go all out in terms of size while LG decided to outfit its devices with premium leather.
Design
The Nexus 6 easily dominates its competition in size, but it is largely made from plastic with a metallic texture and a metal edge. The huge phablet feels smooth when held and can't easily be dropped accidentally. As for the LG G4, it also has a plastic body with a slight curve dubbed the "SlimArc." This allows for the device to be held easily and protects the screen in case of accidental drops. Its back panel features patterned polycarbonate in metallic grey while its white option comes with a ceramic paint coating. There are also optional leather back panels which can be bought separately and swapped out. These come in a variety of natural colors with a stitch running down the middle.
Display
The displays on both devices are both of high quality. The Nexus 6 come with an AMOLED screen measuring 5.96 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 493 pixels per inch. As for the LG G4, it has a similar resolution but comes with a smaller IPS LCD touchscreen measuring 5.5 inches with a density of 538 pixels per inch.
Specs
The specs on the LG G4 are better as it has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset, a hexa-core CPU with two Cortex-A57 cores clocked at 1.82 GHz and four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.44 GHz, along with an Adreno 418 GPU. The Nexus 6 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset, a Krait 450 CPU with four cores clocked at 2.7 GHz and an Adreno 420 GPU.
Memory
The Nexus 6 is at a disadvantage when it comes to memory slots as it does not have one while the LG G4 allows for addition of up to 128 GB of external storage. In terms of RAM, both devices have 3 GB onboard.
Price
The Nexus 6 is priced at $249 with a two-year contract while the LG G4 could be priced at $199 with a similar contract when it's finally released.
