'Mass Effect: Andromeda' release date news update: Xbox One to get upcoming game first via EA Access?

BioWare and Electronic Arts (EA) have not announced a specific release date for "Mass Effect: Andromeda," but reports suggest that the upcoming action role-playing third-person shooter video game will arrive on the Xbox One console first before becoming available for the PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Windows PC platforms.

According to ThisGenGaming, an advertisement for "Mass Effect: Andromeda" found on the website of U.K. video game retail chain Grainger Games had a "Play it first on Xbox One with EA Access" label on the pre-order button. EA has not yet confirmed whether the upcoming game will indeed be available first for those who are subscribed to its gaming service. However, it could possibly happen as most of the video game company's titles have had some sort of early release exclusive for the Xbox One console.

Given that "Mass Effect: Andromeda" is one of the most anticipated video games right now, players are looking for any kind of advantage that they can get. However, PC players shouldn't be too disappointed about not getting early access as they have the chance to avail of a discount for the upcoming game.

Those who have yet to pre-order "Mass Effect: Andromeda" can do so on CDKEYS for only $41.19 instead of the original $59.99 price tag. Furthermore, at checkout, customers can score an additional 10 percent discount by entering the code "CDKEYSXMAS10" that is said to be valid until March 31, 2017. This means that PC players can get a copy of the game for only $37.07.

In other news, game director Mac Walters recently released new details about "Mass Effect: Andromeda" during his exchange with fans on Twitter. Walters said that all of the characters for the upcoming game will be based on face scans. He also revealed that the space ship Tempest will not be able to access the entirety of the Andromeda Galaxy. According to WCCFTech, this could mean that the other parts of the galaxy could be reserved for future games in the franchise.

"Mass Effect: Andromeda" is scheduled to be released in the first quarter of 2017 for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Windows PC.
