'Mortal Kombat X' DLC release date news: Kombat Pack 3 scheduled to arrive at EVO 2016?
"Mortal Kombat X" fans were quick to work out Ed Boon's Twitter post last month which made some reference to certain updates on the video game. There had been a considerable wait for the promised "Mortal Kombat X" downloadable content, "Kombat Pack 3," and the co-creator and creative director of NetherRealm Studios had just the right timing in announcing his good news.
Boon tweeted, "evEn with the recent announcement of injustice 2 ... we'Ve got some cool mortal kombat x news cOming! :)"
It would not have taken a crystal ball to work out the three capitalized letters E-V-O, which of course pointed to the annual Evolution Championship Series event where various game releases and unveilings abound, particularly games in the same genre as "Mortal Kombat X."
The EVO 2016 is set to open this weekend and will run from July 15 to 17 at the Las Vegas Convention Center and Mandalay Bay Events Center in Nevada. It will feature annual championships among players of the much loved fighting games.
It was earlier teased that there will be new "Mortal Kombat X" characters showing up in the upcoming DLC. The studio had previously hinted that characters such as Smoke, Sindel as well as Fujin would come out in the last DLC, but it had not been so. This time around, the characters are expected to finally make their way to the much-awaited "Kombat Pack 3" DLC. While this is yet to be proven at the said event, fans have something else to be glad about.
Earlier reports indicated that NetherRealm was stopping game support for "Mortal Kombat X" DLC on PC. The best thing is that this information was false, as Boon himself assured. He also gave another surprising tidbit for avid players when he revealed that a Mac edition for the game is also being developed.
With the EVO 2016 just around the corner, "Mortal Kombat X" fans will finally be able to confirm whether their expectations will be met.
