'Once Upon a Time' season 6 cast news: Jiminy Cricket returns to lend Regina a hand; Giles Matthey cast as Morpheus
The excitement is mounting for fans of ABC's popular fairy tale drama, "Once Upon a Time." Details on the upcoming run of the show have been coming out bit by bit, and with each revelation, fans cannot help but lament that season 6 of "Once Upon a Time" is still a couple of months away.
It was revealed that Jiminy Cricket, who is also known as Dr. Archie Hopper on the show, will be coming back to the series after being away for two seasons. And with a good reason too: split personality disorder is on the rise and the resident psychiatrist will be much in demand.
This was confirmed by Raphael Sbarge, who portrays the role, and the show creator Adam Horowitz.
In an interview with TVLine, Horowitz teased fans, "[O]ur favorite cricket-shrink is going to find himself with a new patient."
Sbarge himself confirmed on social media that he will be going back to Storybrooke to reprise his role as Hopper.
Dr. Hopper's first patient will be none other than Regina Mills a.k.a. Evil Queen, played by Lana Parilla. Season 5 found Mills trying to remove that part of herself that was the Evil Queen. She failed though, and instead, the Evil Queen woke up. In order to fix things, she will need the help of Dr. Hopper.
Other characters, including Dr. Jekyll (Hank Harris) and his alter ego Mr. Hyde (Sam Witwer), will be needing a therapist as well. So it's just as well that Dr. Hopper decided to come back to Storybrooke, as it is.
In other cast news, Morpheus will descend to Storybrooke come season 6 of "Once Upon a Time." The Greek god of dreams will be played by Giles Matthey, as the series picks up the thread it started to unravel when it delved into the Underworld which is the realm of another Greek god, Hades (Greg Germann). Morpheus will be doing what he does best, helping the characters in their dream travels.
"Once Upon a Time" season 6 is slated to premiere on Sept. 25.
