'Person 5' release date, news and updates: developer pushing game back to April 2017 to refine dual audio feature
Atlus' role-playing game, "Persona 5," is already out in Japan; however, players in Europe and North America will have to wait a little longer as the developer announced that the game's release date in these regions has been delayed once again.
The game was initially set for a Feb. 2017 release, but the developers decided to push it back to an April 4, 2017 release as they needed more time to refine its dual-audio option. This feature enables the game to be capable of both English and Japanese languages during gameplay.
This is not the first time that the game is delayed, as the original expected release date for "Persona 5" was supposed to be in 2015, then later moved to Sept. 2016, until it was moved to the Feb. 2017 date, and lastly, April 2017.
"I know, I know. It stings," a representative from Atlus said, as reported by PersonaCentral. "But Persona 5 set the gold standard for Atlus with its launch in Japan, and we wanted to put the utmost care into ensuring it winds up the best when it launches in the west."
"Persona 5" is due to be out on PlayStation 4 (PS4) and PS3 consoles, and possibly to appease players who still want to experience the game in its original form, the developers decided to have it both in Japanese and English.
Translating and dubbing a video game into different languages require more work, especially for a dialog- and narrative-heavy game such as "Persona 5."
In the meantime, fans can test out the game as it is available for play during the PlayStation Event in Dec. 3 to 4 in California at the Anaheim Convention Center.
The event first kick-offs with a PlayStation Showcase which will feature a keynote address. After which, attendees can get their hands on the newly released PS4 Pro, including its virtual reality (VR) devices.
