After five good seasons, "Person of Interest" is airing its final episode on Tuesday titled "Return 0." Fans have been clamoring for a renewal or revival, but the show's producers are not giving in nor are they giving hints concerning the series' future.

All five seasons of "Person of Interest" have seen the hard-fought battle between the Samaritan and the Machine, two powerful artificial intelligences with all-powerful presence and unparalleled access to information and technology. Now with the impending final battle between the two, fans can expect the final episode of the series to answer all questions and resolve all conflicts that have piled up throughout its entire run.

The International Business Times said the remaining characters of the team will face the toughest situations to date, such that they would have no recourse but to make decisions that could make or break the team.

As if to underscore what fans could expect from the series finale, writer-producer Ashley Gable told TV Line that it would be a "bloodbath." She also confirmed that the final episode was originally given the title "Everyone Dies Alone."

The official synopsis for the series finale said Lionel Fusco (Kevin Chapman), Harold Finch (Michael Emmerson), John Reese (Jim Caviezel) and Sameen Shaw (Sarah Shahi) would be embarking on their final mission to prevent the Samaritan from destroying the Machine and staking its claim over mankind.

Fans would like to believe that the synopsis appears to be open-ended, and they have taken to exploring the possibility that the finale is leaving some legroom for a possible spin-off, revival, or extension. Nevertheless, the showrunners and creators, including Jonathan Nolan, are quick to douse fan speculations, saying the finale is the proper conclusion to the story that spanned five seasons.

"Person of Interest" season 5 will air its series finale on June 21 on CBS. It will also be aired on FX in Australia.
