PlayStation 4 Pro release date, specs, update: Features include 4K gaming, new controllers
Just a few more days left until the official release of Sony's next-gen console, the PlayStation 4 Pro. Gamers have been looking forward to getting hold of this latest gaming device after months of rumors and speculations.
According to reports, there's a lot that fans can expect from Sony's most powerful system to date. For starters, it's revealed that the PlayStation 4 Pro will be featuring support for 4K resolution and higher frame rates. This major upgrade basically brings a whole new level of gaming experience that every gamer will want to have.
Aside from 4K resolution, Game Spot detailed that the upcoming console will be equipped with a 1 TB hard drive. Along with it is technology from AMD Polaris graphical architecture. It's also going to have an improved CPU clockspeed. One thing is missing though and it's the 4K Blu-ray drive.
Lead system architect Mark Cerny divulged to the media that those without 4K or HDR-capable displays don't have to worry because they have devised a way to be able to maximize the use of the console. It's said that developers can utilize the extra power in improving visual fidelity on standard 1080p televisions. They can also use it to enhance visual density or create tweaks to visuals so that it will still be impressive even on non-4K TVs.
Sony has also developed new controllers to try out and they dubbed these Razer Raiju and Nacon Revolution. As detailed in a report, each controller comes with unique features. The Razer Raiju has extra bumpers, two extra detachable triggers and two custom profiles. There's also a 3.5-millimeter headset jack and a detachable analog stick rubber caps.
Meanwhile, the Nacon Revolution comes with 46° amplitude dual analogue sticks, four extra shortcut buttons and an eight-way directional pad. Gamers can also expect to see four custom profiles and two internal compartments.
The PS4 Pro will be available for purchase beginning Nov. 11 and it will be priced at $399.
