'Pokemon Go' cheats & tips: How to win Pokemon gym battle

"Pokémon Go" continues to soar high as the most played mobile gaming app. | Official Pokémon Go Website

Aside from collecting all Pokemon available as much as possible, one of the very important tasks of a "Pokemon Go" player is to acquire gyms. After having his own Pokemon gym, the challenge will be on how to defend the newly-conquered gyms. This may sound too difficult to do, but there are a few guides the players can follow to effectively make their attack or defend their territories.

First, Otaku Kart recommends choosing a Pokemon gym that is not too crowded. It is best if the gym only has a few trainers on it. After spotting the desired gym, the player can now go on either friendly or competitive gym battles. For friendly battles, a player can only use one Pokemon, but for a larger and competitive battle, it will be safe to bring as much as six Pokemon. In picking the right Pokemon to use, the player should first take note of the type of Pokemon that the gym owner uses to defend his territory.

In the actual gym battle, IGN emphasized that the players must learn how to dodge the opponent's attacks effectively. Being great at dodging will be very helpful in winning a gym battle. As a tip, special attacks must only be used to be a step ahead of the opponent, and this is why it's important to keep an eye on the CP bar. The player must see to it that the CP bar is full when he finds the right opportunity to blast a special attack on the enemy.

As reported by BGR, there is a pattern in the movements of Pokemon in defense that players must take note of. During gym battles, the attack moves of the Pokemon defending the gym follow a certain pattern programmed by the "Pokemon Go" system. Specifically, during a gym battle, a circular burst appears when the Pokemon is about to make its attack. This same burst will be the signal for the player to dodge the attack, although he must be quick in spotting this circular burst as it can come really fast on the screen.

When the circular burst is already up, the player must swipe his fingers to either left or right to make the perfect dodge. Also, the player must also take note of the intervals in making dodges or attacking during a gym battle. Keep in mind as well that dodging attack can inflict damage on the player's own Pokemon. In special cases like a Dragonite's Blizzard attack, the player will not be able to dodge it.
