Priyanka Chopra as Alex Parrish in "Quantico" | ABC

ABC's thriller series "Quantico" season 2 promises surprising twists and major career developments for Alex Parrish (Priyanka Chopra), but the upcoming season will also get a better glimpse at the life of her friend at the Academy, Shelby Wyatt (Johanna Braddy).

"Quantico" fans are in for a conflicting ride with the truths and the lies enveloping the reality or the pretense of the life or the long-established death of Shelby's parents, Laura and Glenn.

The next season of "Quantico" will delve deeper into the Wyatts' past dealings that might have played a significant role in the infamous 9/11 New York terrorist attack. Viewers will learn more about the Wyatts' background particularly Laura and Glenn's reasons, motives and motivations that led to their disappearance through faking their own deaths.

It can be recalled that in season 1, episode 17 titled "Care," Laura and Glenn reconnected with their daughter. Their sudden reappearance was a surprise that was initially not very much welcomed by Shelby who later on still accommodated them. During their meeting, Shelby's parents divulged some details that shoved them into hiding, leaving Shelby behind and grieving. It turned out that in the late 1990s they sold a weapons systems software to the government of Afghanistan which somehow found its way to the hands of the Taliban. Laura and Glenn feared that the U.S. government would trace their involvement and implicate them in the crime.

However, Miranda Shaw (Aunjanue Ellis) had the couple's death investigated and the investigation led to the conclusion that Laura and Glenn were in fact dead.

This turn of events left "Quantico" audiences perplexed. There arose questions on whether something went wrong in the investigation instigated by Miranda or if not, who were really the couple Shelby met with.

In this regard, show executive producer Josh Safran remarked, "It is open to interpretation... But whether that story is true or not is something that we definitely will be looking into."

"Quantico" season 2 might hold the answers to which characters were keeping secrets as it premieres on ABC later this year.
