'Rick and Morty' season 3 premiere date: launch of new season pushed back?

"Rick and Morty" season 3 is expected to premiere on Adult Swim before the year ends, but it appears that this may no longer be the case.

A Reddit user who claims to be a design assistant on the show claims that new episodes of the series will not arrive until next year, contrary to what has been said in the recent past.

"I can't say it's 100% not going to happen, more like 99%," the tipster wrote of the rumored December premiere of "Rick and Morty" season 3.

Replying to a post that the new season will likely premiere next year with March being the latest, the user, who goes by the Reddit handle PopDavid, said, "Finally, someone is getting how December just isn't going to happen."

Show creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland have stated early this year that their target for a premiere for "Rick and Morty" season 3 is by the end of this year.

New writers Erica Rosbe and Sarah Carbiener then claimed on "Chicks Who Script" podcast that the show will indeed make it to the promised premiere date.

However, if the words of the Reddit user are to be believed, it looks like "Rick and Morty" season 3 will not arrive this year, but an early 2017 premiere would work.

The tipster even claimed that the writing phase is not done yet, contradicting the reports that this part of the production is already complete.

With all that said, "Rick and Morty" season 3 may still be a long ways off than everyone is expecting, which is understandable seeing that this season will be four episodes longer than the previous one.

Roiland and Harmon added a new team of writers though, which should have helped speed things up in the scriptwriting department.

However, there will be more episodes to work on in "Rick and Morty" season 3 anyways so the work might take longer either way.
