A new trailer for the upcoming "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" will air on ABC on July 15.

While "Star Wars" fans have been anticipating an all-new peek at the eagerly awaited "Star Wars" stand-alone next week, the expectation was that they would get it via the film's panel at the Star Wars Celebration 2016, which will be held in London this month.

Luckily, avid fans who won't be able to attend or tune in to the film's Star Wars Celebration panel can now catch the hotly anticipated trailer on their televisions.

The news that ABC is dropping a new "Rogue One" trailer was first reported by the website Making Star Wars. According to a post on the website, the trailer will be included in an hour-long special about the revival of the "Star Wars" franchise and the success of the box-office hit "Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens" (2015).

Both Lucasfilm, the production company behind the "Star Wars" franchise, and ABC, which will air the special — and the "Rogue One" trailer —are subsidiaries of The Walt Disney Company.

The first trailer for "Rogue One" was released two months ago. Since then, fans have been clamoring to learn more about the film's plot and the characters it will introduce into the "Star Wars" universe.

The film's panel at the upcoming Star Wars Celebration 2016, which will be held from July 15 to 17, is expected to provide these details and more.

According to Collider, the "Star Wars Show LIVE" will stream throughout the three-day event and will feature panels, interviews, and more. The "Rogue One" panel will be livestreamed from 11 a.m. ET on July 15.

"Rogue One," the first stand-alone to be released under the umbrella of "Star Wars Anthology," follows a group of Rebels tasked with stealing the plans for the Galactic Empire's Death Star. It stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Forest Whitaker, Ben Mendelsohn, Riz Ahmed, Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen, Mads Mikkelsen, Jonathan Aris, and Alan Tudyk.

The film hits theaters Dec. 16.
