After eight seasons, the curtains finally descended for "Royal Pains" last Wednesday. The series finale saw Hank getting his happy ending while the rest of the show's central characters got the much-deserved closures to their arcs, too.

On the series finale titled "Uninterrupted," Hank (Mark Feuerstein) realized that he had to leave the Hamptons in order to find his happiness, and that's what he did when he traveled solo to South Africa. To do this, he had to turn down an "escape" offer from his long-time travel buddy Boris (Campbell Scott).

However, Hank's decision to head to South Africa also gave him the opportunity to rekindle his romance with Jill (Jill Flint), something that has been dormant for the longest time. With HankMed temporarily closed, the other characters went on with their lives – Divya (Reshma Shetty) went back to school, Jeremiah (Ben Shenkman) concentrated on his new lab and new love, and Evan (Paulo Costanzo) and Paige (Brooke D'Orsay) continued raising their small family.

The final scene of the finale saw a three-year jump with the newly engaged Hank and Jill visiting the Hamptons for the summer and work for HankMed in the interim.

Speaking to Deadline, showrunners Andrew Lenchewski and Michael Rauch discussed the finale, saying everything that happened in the series finale wasn't what they originally had in mind. However, they decided on it because "ultimately, the finale had to largely serve the stories we had been telling in our final couple of seasons."

"Having said all that, looking back on the finale now, it's nice to feel like it was really the one and only way to end the series," they said.

On the subject of a possible revival series or a reboot, here's what Rauch had to say when he talked to The Hollywood Reporter:

"We were joking with Michael Sluchan yesterday because our numbers on season eight keep going up every week, so we were joking, 'Season nine, here we come.' But I think for us ... We'd be thrilled to be able to go back and, at the same time, if it didn't happen, we feel so happy with the way the series ended and satisfied with that that we don't feel like there are stories that we have to tell, as much as there are stories we could tell."
