Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Release Date, Specs Rumors: Features LTE-A With Superfast Download Speeds
Samsung recently announced that it is going to augment its popular Galaxy Note 4 smartphone with LTE-A, which will make it the fastest phone in the world. An official announcement from the company described the upcoming version as "World's First LTE Advanced Tri-Band Carrier Aggregation Smartphone."
The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 LTE-A is also rumored to feature the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset, which will be a major improvement on the current Galaxy Note 4 that has the Snapdragon 805.
Samsung said the enhanced Galaxy Note 4 would be released in January 2015 and will be marketed to South Korea first. The company did not say when it will become available in the United States and other countries. The new LTE-A version of the Galaxy Note 4 will have the same design as the existing version of the smartphone.
Reporting on the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 LTE-A, Forbes said the phone will be able to compress two 150 Mbps LTE signals into one signal which will enable it to reach download speeds of 300 Mbps. With Category 6 networks already rolling out, the phone is going to be fully compliant and ready to take advantage of them.
As a bonus, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 LTE-A will also be Category 9 compliant, which means that it can also reach a higher download speed of 450Mbps by combining three 150 Mbps LTE signals together when this type of network is commercially rolled out in 2015. This 450Mbps download speed means that the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 LTE-A will be able to download a 700 MB video in a record time of 19 seconds.
With the octa-core Snapdragon 810 chipset also rumored to be on board, the phone will also become the most powerful in the world. The phone could also come with 4GB of RAM as the Snapdragon 810 chipset is 64 bit compliant.
