Samsung Galaxy Note Edge Specs, Features Review: Bendable Display Brings Attention

While the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge isn't the first fully functional smartphone with a bendable display, it certainly is one of the most beautiful in the market. It follows up on the release of last year's Galaxy Round and LG's Flex, both of which were also slightly bent and debuted to lukewarm reviews.

Compared to those phones, the Galaxy Note Edge has a standalone one-inch portion of the screen that bends along the right side of the phone. This bendable portion of the screen is the most striking feature of the phone, which otherwise has almost the same specs as the Galaxy Note 4.

Also included in the phone is a heart rate monitor, finger print sensor and an updated S Pen with two additional styles called fountain and highlighting. As for specs the Galaxy Note Edge comes with a Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor that is clocked at 2.7 GHz coupled with3 GB RAM and can be purchased with 32 or 64 GB of internal storage.

Importantly when crafting the phone with the bendable OLED screen, Samsung kept the bent portion independent from the rest of the main screen. This allows users to watch movies on the phone without any interruption, as all important notifications from certain apps are shifted towards the bent side of the screen.

Even if the main screen is not functioning, important notifications can be viewed on the edge, this is particularly helpful in case users want to use the night clock to view the time and temperature.

One drawback with the phone that several reviewers have pointed out is that it doesn't have many apps that can make use of the bendable edge. While Samsung has said that they will get more partners on board to address this particular issue, it won't happen anytime soon. As for left-handed people, they, too, can make use of the bent edge as the phone can be flipped with the aid of the Rotate 180 feature.
