Classic game "Super Mario" made a huge entrance into the mobile world when "Super Mario Run" was launched. It was expected to perform like "Pokémon GO," but recent data shows that the mobile game is losing its popularity.

"Super Mario Run" made a great hype the moment it was announced by Nintendo. It is even expected to perform well in the market, similar to the popularity of "Pokémon Go." However, according to the data from Sensor Tower, "Super Mario Run" did not make it to the top 50 grossing apps on iOS App Store, Tech Portal reported.

The previously hyped game is now in the 52nd position of the top list. This is said to be a heavy dive as it used to be at the top of the charts.

The sudden drop was not apparently surprising as "Super Mario Run" has previously been reported to be suffering from the gradual decline of players. The culprit, according to the analysts, is the format of the game to have a free download, but with limited levels to play. All the levels will be unlocked if the full game is to be purchased, which costs $9.99.

The price is also seen as one of the reasons why players do not opt to continue playing the game. Some analysts believe that the price is too high. Nevertheless, "Super Mario Run" has felt the effects of its marketing plan.

"Super Mario Run" is up to be released to Android devices and it is expected to generate a good amount of revenue. It is highly possible that Android users will try the game and see if the $9.99 price is worth the fun it brings.

While "Super Mario Run" is suffering a downfall, Nintendo is said to benefit more with "Fire Emblem: Heroes." The title is to be launched on Feb. 2 and everyone is already excited to download the game. It is believed that Nintendo has learned a lesson from "Super Mario Run" and so they are releasing "Fire Emblem: Heroes" with an in-app offer instead.
