Tesla Autopilot 2 news, update: gradual rollout of Autopilot 2 due to safety features
Tesla is taking its time in rolling out the Autopilot 2 system. The system is talked about as the company is putting their best foot forward in achieving optimum safety for their vehicle's self-driving technology.
Tesla's Elon Musk announced on Twitter the release of the Autopilot 2. He wrote, "Autopilot for HW2 rolling out to all HW2 cars today. Please be cautious. Some cars will require adjustment of camera pitch angle by service."
He also added that the Auto steer has been "limited to 45 mph on highways for now, i.e. heavy traffic, where it is needed most. Limit will raise as we get more data."
Then, he warned the drivers that there are cars that would need an adjustment of their vehicle's camera angle, and they will know easily if their vehicles would need one. This is due to the fact that the vehicle will not complete a calibration and may show some error.
It was back in October when the company released an advanced suit to improve their sensor hardware, which includes its cameras, radars and "supercomputers." However, the safety and driver assist capability of the technology has not been completed yet. This has resulted in several new vehicles have lfewer safety features than the older ones, according to The Verge.
However, once Tesla finally finishes the software, their newer models will have a more advanced driver assist technology. The publication further wrote that Tesla stated that the vehicles the customer purchase will eventually be driven autonomously in any given situation. Until then, drivers will have to be satisfied with the thought that older Tesla models have better safety features than the new models.
It could be remembered that Tesla has promised to release the "Enhance Autopilot" system on December 2016, but no technology has arrived. This is obvious that the company is already behind their schedule. Tesla explained that they do not want to release the system if it is not ready.
