'The Americans' Season 5 release date and news: Two new cast members added to latest season
Though "The Americans" is slated to end in 2018, the show is currently prepping for its fifth season and two new cast members have reportedly been added to the roster.
According to reports, "The Walking Dead" alumni Lauren Holden will be joining the fifth season of "The Americans." Back in her "The Walking Dead" days, Holden played Andre Harrison for three seasons before she moved on from the show. It's rumored that her character in "The Americans," Renee, will be a potential love interest for Stan Beeman (Noah Emmerich).
Some speculate that Renee is actually a spy planted by the KGB to get more information on Stan, and a relationship between the two could lead to some marital problems for the show's central character.
Aside from Holden, another TV veteran has also been reported to be joining the show, and that's Brett Tucker. Tucker has made several appearances in TV shows like "Spartacus: War of the Damned" and "Mistresses." He also worked on the soap opera "Neighbors."
In "The Americans," Tucker is said to be cast in a scientist-type role which some fans are guessing is Cold War-related. Not much details have been revealed about the character, but it's said that he would be initially introduced as a charming and likeable guy before he switches into a darker character. Could he be another spy planted by the KGB?
"The Americans" is a show that follows two soviet agents who are planted in the U.S. to spy on the U.S. government. The show started back in 2013, and has been having a decent run since its conception, already gaining itself 2 Primetime Emmys and several nominations. It got a score of 8.3/10 on IMDb.
No official release date has been revealed for the fifth season, but fans can expect it to air sometime in 2017. Stay tuned for more updates.
