'The Division' DLC release date news 2016: Expansion packs delayed due to game issues

The next downloadable content (DLC) for "Tom Clancy's The Division" has been delayed as developer Ubisoft fixes the "lingering issues" on the base game.

The "Survival" DLC will not be released on its planned October launch along with Update 1.4, but will instead be out "at a later date this year." The expansion after that, the "Last Stand," will be released early next year.

Explaining the necessary change in release schedule, Ubisoft wrote on its blog: "This new schedule will not only enable us to strengthen the core experience before adding new content, but also continuously improve it by allowing for more production time to ensure the quality of future updates as well."

The developer also said that ever since "Tom Clancy's The Division" was released, they have been putting "a lot of energy" working on improving the game.

"While these efforts have allowed us to bring more gameplay variety, the overall experience has been affected by lingering issues that have accumulated since release," Ubisoft stated.

Because of this, the developer wants to make sure that "Tom Clancy's The Division" is in tip-top shape before they add new content to it. They will do so with Update 1.4.

This update will address the most glaring bugs that plague the game and hamper an otherwise amazing gaming experience. Update 1.4 will also make loot drops "more relevant" to players.

The "Tom Clancy's The Division" update will also deal with the enemy difficulty and time to kill as well as balance the Gear Sets and weapons.

Also, Ubisoft will use Update 1.4 to add solo player experience and balance Dark Zone and PvP. The focus will also be on incorporating suggestions from the community most especially on the quality of life additions.

More information about Update 1.4 will be revealed in a Special Report livestream scheduled Tuesday, Sept. 13. Ubisoft will also continue with the State of the Game keep fans up to speed of the development.
