'The Originals' season 4 spoilers, plot news, air date: Caroline to save Klaus from death? A traitor lives among the Mikaelsons?

With "The Originals" season 4 not premiering until midseason of 2017, there are so many speculations going around regarding the upcoming season's storyline. Since Klaus Mikaelson is still under his pain-induced coma and the rest of the Mikaelson siblings still suspended in dreamscape, fans are theorizing who will save the family from their fate.

There are talks circulating that Caroline Forbes (Candice Accola) of "The Vampire Diaries" will crossover and be the one to save Klaus (Joseph Morgan) from his impending doom. Caroline is considered Klaus' ultimate love, with their love-hate relationship starting in season 3 of "The Vampire Diaries," which happens to be "The Originals'" mother series.

Fans of both shows have shipped the "Klaroline" love team ever since Klaus fell in love with the newbie vampire back in the third season of "The Vampire Diaries." When "The Originals" was conceptualized, Klaus merely said goodbye to Caroline over the phone, which is why many fans are hoping a huge crossover will finally happen in "The Originals" season 4.

Morgan has previously teased that the upcoming installment's premise is betrayal, where friends become enemies and enemies become friends. He assured fans that he will be back, which means his being entombed in a crypt with a Tunde blade in his heart will not be the death of him. Whether it is Caroline who will save him remains to be seen, since the crossover talks are mere speculations.

Meanwhile, there are reports that at least one of the Mikaelson siblings will betray another sibling or the whole family. Apparently, Rebekah (Claire Holt) will feel the same as she always has even after the five-year time jump. That is, maybe her life is supposed to be spent outside of her crazy family. Her brother Kol (Nathaniel Buzolic) will feel the same, and they might bond over it. However, will they betray their family based on their feelings?

In related news, TV Guide reports that Klaus and Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) might team up against a sadistic vampire out to wreak havoc among the children of New Orleans. It remains to be seen how things will pan out when the series returns on air.
