'Titanfall 2' news, updates: First free DLC to be officially released on Nov. 30
The first batch of downloadable content for "Titanfall 2" officially arrives next week, bringing with it a number of customizations for the game's titans.
According to reports, the game's first free DLC will be released on Wednesday, Nov. 30. It includes the fan favorite map Angel City, which will come first for "Titanfall 2" gamers who pre-ordered the game. Everyone else will get it on Dec. 3.
The Angel City map will be a part of Respawn's larger multiplayer-focused content drop called Angel City's Most Wanted. It features one new kit for all the game's six titans, a new pilot execution and a Wingman Elite for pilots. While not part of the Angel City's Most Wanted update, Respawn announced its plans to conduct double XP weekends. There will also be "twists" on familiar game modes (though the said twists were not detailed), and enabling shout-outs to the guild-like Networks in which players can join.
As Kotaku points out, "Titanfall 2 " will be having an in-game store where players are able to purchase camouflage, gun skins as well as Titan variants. The developer hopes to keep away from the pitfalls of randomized loot crates by giving users freedom to buy what they want.
Additionally, Respawn has clarified that the introduction of microtransactions in the game is solely for cosmetic purposes, and will not impact gameplay in any way. "We will have no in-game currency exchange. No locked loot boxes, crafting shards or pay-to-win weaponry. No RNG. If you see something you like, you buy it and that's it," the developer said in a press statement.
"All maps, modes, weapons—anything that has effect on gameplay—will be free for all players that bought Titanfall 2. We believe that in order to maintain a healthy community we shouldn't be segmenting players behind paywalls for these things," the developer added.
