Xbox 360 Backward Compatibility new games, updates: this month's new additions to be 'Elder Scrolls IV' and 'Modern Warfare 3'?
Microsoft continues to add more games to its Xbox 360 Backward Compatibility program, adding more titles to its catalog of over 250 different titles. This month alone, "Mass Effect" 2 and 3, "Guardian Heroes" and "Operation Flashpoint: Red River" were added to the backward compatibility catalog.
A report by GameSpot claims that "The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion" and "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3" might be added to the Xbox 360 Backward Compatibility program since they showed up on Microsoft's list of Black Friday Deals as discounted Xbox 360 games that are playable on Xbox One. "Oblivion" is marked down at $4.94, while "Modern Warfare 3" is up for $15.
Both games are not yet officially listed under the Xbox 360 Backward Compatibility program, but Xbox fans expect that the list already hinted that these games will be announced officially under the backward compatibility catalog some time before Thanksgiving.
"Modern Warfare 3" joins the rest of the "Call of Duty" franchise that are already under the compatibility program. In the Xbox feedback site, the game garnered over 111,000 community votes, which makes it one of the most requested titles to be added into the backward compatibility catalog. "Oblivion" makes to the top 15 list of most-requested titles.
Aside from the mentioned games, Microsoft also added "Skate 3," "Blue Dragon," "Rage" and "Orange Box" to the Xbox 360 Backward Compatibility program this month. "Skate 3" is also one of the most-requested Xbox 360 titles that were finally confirmed for the program.
The Xbox 360 Backward Compatibility program was launched in 2015 to bring Xbox 360-exclusive games to Xbox One consoles. The program was a successful one, with over 210 million hours of playtime for Xbox 360 games in Xbox One.
In addition, Microsoft's engineering lead Mike Ybarra confirmed that the upcoming Xbox Project Scorpio console will also support the Xbox 360 Backward Compatibility program.
