2017 Opel Crossland X release date, specs news: all-new crossover designed for urban driving
Opel has introduced the all-new 2017 Crossland X, a new crossover utility vehicle joining the best-selling Mokka X — also known as the Buick Encore in the United States.
"The Crossland X with its combination of cool, SUV-inspired design, outstanding connectivity and high practicality represents a second strong competitor in this vehicle class next to our sporty Mokka X. Our agile Crossland X delivers on driving pleasure while oozing urban lifestyle, making it perfect for the city and escapes to the countryside," said Opel CEO Dr. Karl-Thomas Neumann.
Designed to overcome the urban jungle, the Crossland X is both sophisticated and rugged thanks to Opel's "Sculptural Artistry meets German Precision" design language. The front fascia impresses with a prominent grille highlighted by the Opel Blitz logo flanked by wings, as well as the signature "double-wing" LED daytime running lights. The crossover also features a floating roof design and a distinct rear with split tail lights.
Opel has not announced specific powertrains but did say that the 2017 Crossland X will have an extensive range including gasoline, diesel and LPG engine options. It will be available in both manual and automatic transmissions.
Meanwhile, the Crossland X's spacious cabin features a clean and precise design. It also features high-quality materials evidenced by the subtle chrome finishes on the cluster and air vents. The ergonomic, versatile seats are able to adjust longitudinally to increase legroom. In terms of connectivity, the IntelliLink infotainment system, available with up to an 8-inch touchscreen display, comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. There is also wireless charging, Wi-Fi hotspot and Keyless Open & Start.
To ensure safe driving, Opel will make available the following technologies: Adaptive Forward Lighting with full LED headlights, a Head-Up display, a 180-degree Panoramic Rear View Camera, Advanced Park Assist, Forward Collision Alert with pedestrian detection, Automatic Emergency Braking, Driver Drowsiness System, Lane Keep Assist, Speed Sign Recognition and Side Blind Spot Alert.
The 2017 Opel Crossland X will be badged as the Vauxhall Crossland X when it goes on sale in the United Kingdom this summer. On the other hand, the German automaker has yet to announce if a Buick-badged model will arrive in the United States.
Pricing and full technical specifications will be released closer to the official launch of the 2017 Opel Crossland X.
