2018 Chevrolet Equinox release date, specs, price news update: Compact crossover starts at $24,475
Chevrolet has released pricing details for the 2018 Equinox. The all-new compact crossover will have a starting price of $24,475 when it arrives in spring 2017.
The 2018 Chevrolet Equinox will be available in four trims: L, LS, LT and Premier. Customers can also choose between a front-wheel-drive configuration and an all-wheel-drive system. The redesigned sports utility vehicle will come with three powertrain options.
At launch, the new Equinox crossover will be powered by the 1.5-liter turbo petrol engine that delivers 170 horsepower and 201 pound-feet of torque. The two other powertrains will arrive in the second half of 2017. The 1.6-liter turbo diesel four-cylinder engine will provide 136 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque, while the 2.0-liter turbo engine will have 252 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. The latter will also be mated to General Motors' new nine-speed automatic transmission.
The redesigned SUV comes with an expressive and athletic exterior design. It features Chevrolet's global design aesthetics that can be seen in the Volt, Malibu and Cruze. Standard features include projector-beam headlamps, LED daytime running lights, and horizontal tail lamps. Inside the cabin, all-new architecture paves the way for a more integrated dual-cockpit design and spacious interiors. Some of the new elements include denim-style fabric and a new flat-folding rear seat.
Chevrolet also gives the Equinox the latest connectivity technologies. The crossover comes standard with a seven-inch touchscreen MyLink infotainment system that is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Customers can also avail of the OnStar 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot.
With the driver and passengers' safety in mind, the all-new Equinox is available with advanced driver-assistive technologies like Forward Collision Alert with Following Distance Indicator, Low-Speed Forward Automatic Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.
The 2018 Chevrolet Equinox will be available in North American dealerships in the first quarter of 2017.
