2018 Chevrolet Traverse release date, specs rumors: Teaser for redesigned crossover released before debut at 2017 Detroit Auto Show
Chevrolet has released a teaser image of the all-new Traverse which is slated to makes its debut at the upcoming North American International Auto Show, also known as the Detroit Auto Show, on Jan. 9, 2017.
The full-size sports utility vehicle (SUV) will have its first full redesign since its introduction in 2008. For the 2018 model year, the Traverse will be getting a bold and refined new look. Based on the teaser image, the all-new crossover has a similar profile to the outgoing model but looks more streamlined. In terms of design, it looks similar to the smaller 2018 Equinox which was introduced in September.
The 2018 Chevrolet Traverse will be built using General Motors' C1XX platform architecture which provides seating for up to eight passengers. According to Chevrolet, it will also offer segment-best cargo space and third-row legroom. Currently, the Traverse is one of the largest vehicles in the crossover/SUV segment.
The American automaker also revealed that the all-new Traverse will feature premium design cues and will be equipped with new technologies like the exclusive D-Optic headlamps that have a natural daylight effect and seamless light quality. There will also be more trim levels to give prospective customers more choices.
The introduction of the Traverse will complete Chevrolet's transformation of its current crossover/SUV lineup.
"Nobody in the industry offers a broader, fresher lineup of SUVs and crossovers than Chevrolet. From the all-electric Bolt EV to America's longest-running nameplate, Suburban, we've got something for every customer and lifestyle," said Alan Batey, president of General Motors North America and brand chief of Global Chevrolet.
Chevrolet has yet to reveal the technical specifications of the 2018 Traverse SUV. Thankfully, its debut is only a few weeks away. Car enthusiasts should expect more teasers to be released in the days leading up to the Detroit Auto Show. Pricing and other pertinent details will be revealed early next year.
The 2018 Chevrolet Traverse is expected to go on sale in late 2017.
