9-Month-Old Baby Unhurt After Wayward SUV Crashes Into Seattle Home, Hitting His Crib

A nine-month-old baby was miraculously unhurt when his crib was hit by a wayward SUV that smashed into the baby's family home in Bellevue, Seattle, Washington, on Tuesday.

The unnamed baby boy was sleeping in his crib when the accident happened.

The police rushed to the scene after getting a call about the crash.

A 34-year-old woman was getting driving lessons from her husband when she hit the gas pedal instead of the brake on the approach to the Hampton Greens Apartments, said police officer Seth Tyler, as reported by the Bellevue Reporter.

"It really was pretty miraculous that there was no injury. The baby was kind of resting on top of the debris," Tyler said.

Bellevue Police posted photos of the accident on Twitter, saying, "aftermath of car into building. There was a 9 mo. old baby in the crib pictured, miraculously not injured."

They added, "Vehicle that crashed into building, the 'baby on board' sticker was in baby's room in apt, stuck to vehicle in crash."

The car crashed through the wall into the baby's nursery, causing the crib to partially collapse.

"The parents were frantic at the time of the crash. They heard the commotion. They went into the room, obviously saw the car in their baby's room and grabbed their child," Tyler told ABC News.

Medical personnel checked the baby and declared that he was fine. The driver was not charged after the police said it was an accident.

"In the past, when we've had cars into buildings and no injuries, we have not issued citations," Tyler said.

The family is staying with a neighbor because of the damage to the house.

The crash caused damages to the house, including the collapse of an entire wall. Fortunately, the driver of the errant vehicle has insurance and the case will be settled by the insurance company, the landlord and the family.
