Adele Super Bowl 2017 Half-Time Show news: Singer says she turned down offer to perform

Adele has no intention of performing at the 2017 Super Bowl halftime show.

In a clip taken by a fan during the Grammy-winning singer's tour stop at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Saturday, Aug. 13, Adele is heard saying that she is "not doing" the Super Bowl.

"I mean, come on, that show is not about music," she said. "And I don't really — I can't dance or anything like that."

She also referred to a possible informal offer from event organizers, saying, "They were very kind, they did ask me, but I said no."

"I'm sorry but maybe next time with my next album," she added. "I'm going to do a dance album next time. Also, I know I'm not Beyoncé. I don't dance or anything like that."

Earlier this month, the U.K.'s The Sun claimed that the National Football League is considering the "Hello" singer/songwriter for the 2017 Super Bowl halftime show. This year's show featured an electric performance from Beyoncé, Coldplay, and Bruno Mars.

Adele is currently one of the most in-demand performers on the planet, following an explosive comeback late last year with her third studio album "25." "Hello," the first track off "25," broke records when it was released and spent months at the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart.

As such, the news that the NFL was eyeing Adele for next year's show came as no surprise. However, on Sunday, the NFL and Pepsi, the halftime show's sponsor, came out with a joint statement in response to Adele's comments.

According to the statement, while the NFL and Pepsi are both big fans of Adele, "...We have not at this point extended a formal offer to Adele or anyone else."

"We have had conversations with several artists about the Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show," the statement also said.
