"Agent Carter" was abruptly cancelled after two seasons and a lot of fans were devastated. Series star Haley Atwell took time to comment on the show's predicament, and says that she is very keen on returning should the show get picked up by another network.

In an interview with Comic Book Resources, Atwell says, "I don't feel like I've said goodbye to her. She does still seem to live on a lot for the fans. And Marvel is still such a big part of my career, especially my professional family, that I would absolutely not rule out the idea of going back to Peggy at some point, seeing her in other avenues. I love her, and I hope that she has a life elsewhere at another time."

"Agent Carter" was a spin-off of "Captain America: The First Avenger" and it focused on Steve Roger's (Chris Evans) love interest Peggy as she tries to do espionage work around 50s era New York. The show included the early beginnings of SHIELD, and there were also appearances from other characters like the Stark butler Jarvis (James D'Arcy) and the young Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper).

Some fans have speculated that the cancellation of "Agent Carter" may be due to Atwell's other show, "Conviction." The series follows Atwell as a former First Daughter who has been plagued with scandals and has been blackmailed into spearheading an elite legal team that focuses on finding wrong convictions.

Atwell says that "Conviction" was not the case. She says, "When this pilot came about, ABC said, 'Well, this is not where we're cancelling 'Agent Carter.' This is a great new project. We really want you in the center of it. We want to see if it's going to go.'"

Atwell was supposed to star in both "Conviction" and "Agent Carter" side by side, but with "Agent Carter" cancelled, fans will just have to hold on to the hope that ABC would be planning a special.

Peggy's character died in "Captain America: Civil War," and since the character was able to live until the present, the showrunners can fill in the blanks of her life if "Agent Carter" ever gets picked up again.

The future of "Agent Carter" is uncertain, but a lot of fans are definitely on board for the show's revival.
