The showrunners of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D" wanted the series to offer fans something new when they brought in Gabriel Luna to play Robbie Reyes aka Ghost Rider. The response has been positive so far, and a new behind-the-scenes video was released to show how the Spirit of Vengeance was brought to life for the small screen.

The video was posted on Marvel's Twitter account and it featured the show's VFX supervisor, Mark Kolpack. He ran the audience through the entire process of how they used CGI on Luna's Ghost Rider. One part of the process had the crew strapping orange lights around Luna's head so that an orange glow would emanate from his crown. The Ghost Rider's CGI head is a skull with flames, so fans can expect a lot of CGI work for each second that the Ghost Rider is on screen.

Fans of Zack Snyder's "Watchmen" will remember this technique was also used when they worked on a fully CG Dr. Manhattan (Billy Crudup). They covered the actor with lights so that there would be a blue glow on his co-stars whenever they shot scenes with him. It would surely save a lot of the animators work on putting CG lights on the other actors.

A lot of fans were speculating that Robbie Reyes' Ghost Rider would hold back on his flaming skull appearance for awhile but the first episode already had him enveloped by his supernatural fire.

The next episode of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." will see Ghost Rider taking on Quake (Chloe Bennet) again. Aside from that, S.H.I.E.L.D. will have to say hello to a new director after Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) was demoted to an agent.

The next episode of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season 4 is titled "Meet the New Boss." It will air next Tuesday at 10 p.m. EDT only on ABC.
