The new director of S.H.I.E.L.D. seems to be having tension this season with former director Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg). A new promo clip has Jeffrey Mace (Jason O'Mara) and his team arriving on the helicarrier to take Robbie Reyes aka Ghost Rider (Gabriel Luna) into custody, but this leads to a conversation with Coulson about "Star Wars" characters.

In the clip, Mace seemingly compares Coulson to Han Solo, the roguish bad boy in the movies, who was really just selfish and always put himself before everybody else — but still, people loved him. Coulson, however, say that he identifies more with Admiral Ackbar, the Mon Calamari general who thought up military strategies for the rebellion.

Mace then asks Coulson if he views S.H.I.E.L.D. as the Empire while his ragtag group is the Rebel Alliance. Coulson then elaborates on how he "gave everything for S.H.I.E.L.D.," including his life.

The next episode in the series is titled "The Good Samaritan" and it will focus on the origins of the Ghost Rider. Though a force for good, Ghost Rider's way of dishing out justice has made him one of the top targets of S.H.I.E.L.D. Now everyone is on the hunt to bring Robbie Reyes down, not to mention that he's also working with S.H.I.E.L.D. defector Daisy aka Quake.

Another promo clip has Mace asking if Robbie is an Inhuman, to which Coulson replies, "He says he made a deal with the devil." Comic fans can remember that this was the origin of Johnny Blaze in the comics. Robbie Reyes' Ghost Rider was actually possessed by the spirit of a serial killer demon.

With the comics origins altered in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it's possible that the showrunners have taken more liberties to the origin of some characters.

"Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season 4's next episode, "The Good Samaritan" airs on Tuesday, Nov. 1, at 10 p.m. EDT on ABC.
