'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' season 4 episode 8 spoilers: Ghost Rider, S.H.I.E.L.D. team up against Eli; android Aida poses new threat

The "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." midseason finale is coming and it promises to be one explosive ride through science, magic and mayhem as Robbie, aka the Ghost Rider (Gabriel Luna), teams up with the Strategic Hazard Intervention Espionage Logistics Directorate (S.H.I.E.L.D.) agents to bring his power-hungry uncle, Eli (José Zúñiga), down. On top of this, Robbie just made a new deal with his devilish alter ego, which may have banished him to an eternal life as the Ghost Rider.

In the episode titled "The Laws of Inferno Dynamics," Eli threatens the lives of the people of Los Angeles as he continues his quest for more power with the creation of a machine he plans to show off to the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents. What purpose this machine will serve has not been made clear, but if it's Eli that's helming it, then it's almost certain to be something destructive on a massive scale. Coulson (Clark Gregg) wastes no time at all telling new S.H.I.E.L.D. director, Mace (Jason O'Mara), to send in their "big guns."

By big guns, he meant the inhumans, Yo-Yo (Natalia Cordova-Buckley) and Daisy (Chloe Bennet), along with the Ghost Rider. The episode preview shows the three of them leading the cavalry into Eli's lair, which will eventually lead to an intense match between Robbie and his uncle.

Eli's god complex, backed up by an unmistakably formidable amount of power, may give Robbie and S.H.I.E.L.D. a hard time, but the Ghost Rider also has an impeccable record of fulfilling his part of the bargain. Robbie has just made a new one as a bribe for the devilish spirit to leave Mack's (Henry Simmons) body, but will the Ghost Rider be able to harness enough power to defeat Eli in exchange for Robbie's vow to take care of all of his unsettled scores in return?

Besides Eli and the Ghost Rider, more threats are brewing on the sidelines from Simmons' (Elizabeth Henstridge) secret mission that involved a Terrigenesis cocoon, and the android Aida's (Mallory Jansen) growing thirst for power after acquiring the knowledge of the Darkhold.

"Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season 4 episode 8 will air on Tuesday, Dec. 6, at 10 p.m. EST on ABC.
