'Agents of SHIELD' season 4 release date, plot news 2016: First look at Ghost Rider; new poster revealed
For months, fans have been excited to see what Gabriel Luna's version of Ghost Rider will look like and now they can rejoice as an image of a flaming Ghost Rider has made its way online.
The image came from Yahoo TV and executive producer Jeff Bell expressed his excitement on having Ghost Rider as part of the show. He said that the character "opens up a whole different kind of storytelling for us."
So far, all of the superpower types in the show have been described as Inhumans but Ghost Rider is well known for getting his abilities from a supernatural source. There is no clear definition on the roots of Ghost Rider's powers in the show but it has been reported that the showrunners have made a few liberties when it came to the character's origin.
Meanwhile, the look of the character seems to be a mix of both the classic Johnny Blaze Ghost Rider and the modern incarnation. Johnny Blaze's Ghost Rider had a human skull for a head while the Robbie Reyes version had what looked like a flaming skull-themed mask/helmet.
This version has what looks like a flaming human skull but the features have been altered to have a wider jaw. The eyes look very similar to the Robbie Reyes version.
If the Yahoo image isn't enough, there is also the new poster for the upcoming season which has Ghost Rider staring down the rest of the SHIELD team. The series has also been subtitled "Ghost Rider" and the poster gave a more detailed look of the new Spirit of Vengeance.
More of the supernatural elements are making their way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Other than Ghost Rider, this November will see the arrival of "Doctor Strange."
The premiere episode for the fourth season of "Agents of SHIELD" is titled "The Ghost." It airs on Tuesday, Sept 20, at 10 p.m. EDT only on ABC.
