When it was revealed that Michael Fassbender was going to be portraying another synthetic android named Walter, fans started wondering what makes this character different from David? Well, instead of another nefarious android, Walter is going to be quite different indeed.

In an interview with ComingSoon, Fassbender shared some details about David and Walter, and he revealed that they were different due to their design and personality.

"I think Walter's a real different kettle of fish. David was definitely a work-in-progress, somewhat of a prototype I suppose. The elements of him that were the human elements I think people found a little disturbing, so Walter's more of a straightforward robot. Pretty logical, much more of a servant without the ego."

Mike Reyes of CinemaBlend made the perfect comparison when he said that Walter is similar to the Bishop (Lance Henriksen) in "Aliens," while David is like the Bishop in "Alien 3." The "Alien" franchise do like their manipulative and deceitful androids, and none was as devious as Bishop in the third "Alien" film.

Aside from Fassbender, "Alien: Covenant" will also star Katherine Waterston, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, Billy Crudup, Jussie Smolett, Amy Seimetz, Carmen Ejogo and Callie Hernandez. Noomi Rapace will reprise her role as Prometheus survivor Dr. Elizabeth Shaw, and Guy Pearce will be playing a younger Peter Weyland.

It was also rumored that James Franco may be playing the captain of the Covenant, Branson. While this rumor hasn't been verified yet, a number of publications have noted that this sounds plausible. CinemaBlend has noted that Franco has been working with 20th Century Fox on "Why Him," so there is a chance the studio may have found a way to include him in "Alien: Covenant." His character is supposed to appear in the first ten minutes of the film.

"Alien: Covenant" is scheduled to premiere on May 19, 2017.
