'Alienation' Gameplay Review, News: Game Likened to 'Dead Nation'; Screenshots and Gameplay Footage Out
"Alienation," The latest game from Housemarque, looks set to follow the footsteps of "Super Stardust" and "Dead Nation," two of its popular games.
When the new screenshots and gameplay footage for it were released recently, gamers and websites devoted to gaming news were quick to label it as similar to "Dead Nation."
News about the upcoming game was announced via the PlayStation blog, not surprisingly because the game will be available exclusively for the PS4 console. The blog post also announced that Sony was pleased with the progress being made on the game after it was announced last year at GamesCom 2014.
The blog post also noted that the screenshots and gameplay footage was meant to get over the dearth of information about the game since it was announced last year.
The game is a twin-stick shooter and feature cooperation among four players. Success in the game in spite of all the explosions and happenings on screen will hinge on players getting tactical teamwork right and blasting the aliens away.
Focus is going to remain on the multiplayer dynamics in the game. The developer noted that there would be three classes for characters. Loot and weapon customizations would be offered by the ton. Also players are going to be able to set up an "astronomical" number of teams. This will come in handy when they have to fight off the huge aliens and other foot soldiers.
Housemarque also noted that by adopting a "run and gun" strategy in the game, players will be able to get a number of victories. However, personal battlefield victories do not translate to winning the war against the aliens. To win a game, players need to coordinate to come up with a successful strategy.
