Allison Williams Defends Father Brian Williams: 'He's A Really Good Man'
Actress Allison Williams has spoken out regarding the scandal surrounding her father, NBC newscaster Brian Williams.
Brian Williams was put on a six-month suspension earlier this month from his "NBC Nightly News" show after he admitted to fabricating a story during his coverage of the Iraq War in 2003.
While Williams is being investigated for other potential stories he has inaccurately told, Allison Williams defended her father at a recent event at the 92nd Street Y hosted by Seth Meyers.
When asked about her father, Williams confirmed that her family has been having a "really hard time," but went on to defend her dad, saying: "One thing this experience has not done is shake my trust and belief in him as a man. He's a really good man. He's an honest man. He's a truthful man. He has so much integrity. He cares so much about journalism."
"And yes, he's a really good dad, but I know you can trust him because, as any good daughter does, I have tested him on that," Williams added.
The 26-year-old actress and star of the HBO series "Girls" added: "I can't wait until he is back on TV."
Brian Williams was forced to admit that he had "misremembered" events surrounding a 2003 Chinook helicopter incident in Iraq during the Iraq War when the publication Stars and Stripes questioned the validity of his story after interviewing other passengers of the Chinook helicopter.
Williams had originally claimed that he had been travelling in a Chinook helicopter when it was struck by enemy fire, but later clarified that he had been in a different helicopter that was not hit.
