AMD is currently focusing on the upcoming release of RX 460 and 470; however, fans and critics are more interested in the development of Radeon RX 490. According to the reports, the powerful graphics card is said to challenge NVIDIA's GTX 1080. Rumor has it that the highly anticipated GPU will find its way to the market this year.

There have been reports circulating that a Redditor have spotted the RX 490 in an AMD listing. According to the report, the listing is said to be part of the company's redemption program that is expected to continue until late this year. Basing on the promotional listing, the GPU will likely to come out before the year 2016 ends.

In a report by WCCF Tech, the card is said to have a dual GPU setup, which is also indicated in the latest leaked details.

"These things indicate to us that we are looking for a dual-GPU solution, probably one based on a full version of Polaris 10," as stated in the report.

The publication also added that the RX 490 is being labeled on Zauba listings as a C99 board variant, which means that the graphics card belongs to the Polaris family. However, some tech observers do not rule out any possibility that AMD might follow the Vega 10 architecture. If the company decides to use the Vega 10 design, experts suggest that the release might be delayed until 2017.

Nonetheless, these reports have yet to be confirmed by AMD. Many people are expecting the American multinational semiconductor company to make an announcement with regard to the development and release of RX 490 anytime soon.

Meanwhile, although tech experts are saying that the RX 490 is AMD's answer to NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 1080, AMD claimed that the RX 480 alone can easily beat the GTX 1080.

What's interesting is that the RX 490 is rumored to have the same price as the GTX 1080 at $599.

As of the moment, fans will have to wait for AMD to make an official announcement with regard to RX 490.
